Volunteers are an important part of our team at Diabetes WA. Without their dedicated support, we would not be able to fulfil our role - which is to ensure the successful provision of our much needed services and programs.
The contribution of our many volunteers enables us to more effectively reach out to people living with diabetes. Our volunteers are ambassadors of our organisation, reflecting our values across the WA community.
Volunteering with us can be an extremely rewarding & fulfilling experience. With a dedicated room within our subiaco offices, volunteers extend their skills to help the staff with many varied roles including:
- Fundraising support
- Membership mail outs
- Data entry
- General administrative tasks
- Event support
- Awareness campaign work
- Speaking groups
We welcome people of all ages, from all walks of life, with all levels of education and from all parts of the wider community. If you are interested in joining the volunteering team at Diabetes WA, please contact us on (08) 9436 6204 or email volunteering@diabeteswa.com.au.
Speaking out about diabetes and the prevention of type 2 diabetes is important and we have gathered a dedicated team of people in Perth who are particularly passionate about spreading this message. These people are the volunteers in our speak out program.
Speak out volunteers are trained to present diabetes awareness and prevention education sessions to community groups and workplaces. These sessions run anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and are available in the perth metropolitan area. The program is currently expanding to regional areas.
If you live in the country or the city and would like to help spread the message about preventing type 2 diabetes - become a speak out volunteer! Contact Community Relations on (08) 9325 7699 or email volunteering@diabeteswa.com.au for further information.
