Summary

The bladder stores and expels urine around four to six times a day and once at night. As we get older it is considered normal for this to increase to eight times a day and twice during the night. Normal bowel emptying frequency ranges from three times a week to three times a day and stools should be soft, formed and easy to pass. The pelvic floor muscles are important for bladder and bowel control in both men and women.
