Australians living with type 1 & 2 diabetes, and requiring insulin, can now access the latest technology on the NDSS, which offers quick and easy handling and fits all major brands of insulin pen. Like all disposable syringes and needles on the NDSS scheme, this new product is FREE for NDSS registrants.
The Penfine® universal click™ is a unique ‘click on’ needle that makes managing diabetes easier, especially for those people who have difficulty screwing on their current pen-needles, such as those who have issues with vision or dexterity. NDSS registrants can order the new Penfine® universal click™ needle over the counter at one of 440 agencies in WA, or by mail or phone order from Diabetes WA.
Closing the Loop (CTL) Pty Ltd, the exclusive Australian supplier of the Penfine® universal click™ insulin needle, is also offering free samples for people wanting to trial the product - click on their website www.closingtheloop.com.au
Over the past 3 months, 20 new pharmacies have joined as NDSS agencies, bringing our state total to over 440 and providing even better access to vital diabetes products over the counter.
In response to demand, we are also expanding NDSS distribution into aged care centres; with a focus on catering for the special needs of WA seniors living with diabetes in dedicated aged care facilities. Currently, 6 aged care centres are acting as NDSS agents for their residents, with many more being evaluated, and we are focusing on providing further support to health professionals in this area.
