Apple Crisp

Full of healthy walnuts rich in omega-3 fatty acids, this delicious and timeless classic is perfect for a cold winter’s night.


1 cup SPLENDA low calorie sweetener
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon orange rind
0.25 cups orange juice
5 granny smith apples
1 cup rolled oats
2 tablespoons SPLENDA low calorie sweetener
0.25 tablespoons cinnamon
2 tablespoons margarine
0.5 cups puffed rice cereal
0.5 cups walnuts


    1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350° F)
    2. Spray a 22 cm (8-inch) square baking dish with vegetable cooking spray. Set aside
    3. Whisk together 1 cup SPLENDA® Granular Sweetener, 1 tsp cinnamon, grated orange zest and orange juice in a large bowl; add peeled, cored and sliced apples and toss to coat
    4. Stir together oats, 2 tbs SPLENDA®: Granular Sweetener, and 1/4 tbs cinnamon in a medium bowl; cut margarine in with a pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture is crumbly
    5. Stir in cereal and chopped walnuts
    6. Transfer apple mixture to prepared pan; spoon cereal topping over apples
    7. Bake for 45 minutes or until topping is lightly browned. Serve warm
