Diabetes WA partners with the Department of Veterans' Affairs - Diabetes WA
 In News

The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) has collaborated with Diabetes WA to tailor a membership package specifically to benefit DVA clients. From 1 July 2018, eligible ex-service men and women living with diabetes in Western Australia will receive a complimentary Diabetes WA membership, courtesy of DVA.

The membership package is available to eligible DVA clients living with diabetes, to keep them up-to-date with the latest diabetes advice, news and events.

The new initiative is a preventative health measure to support veterans with diabetes to better understand and manage their overall health and reduce the risk of further complications. Diabetes was identified as a national health priority area by the Australian Health Ministers Advisory Council in September 2017. Poorly managed diabetes can lead to the development of complications such as heart attack, stroke, hearing and vision loss, amputation as well as diabetes distress, stress and depression.

Diabetes WA is in the process of notifying all eligible DVA clients to arrange their complimentary membership. Thanks to this new initiative there is no cost to Gold and White DVA card holders.
