Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) to cover Diabetes WA membership

Since 1 July 2018, to support eligible Western Australian ex-service men and women living with diabetes, DVA pays for them to join Diabetes WA as a member.

The new arrangement is a preventative health measure to support veterans with diabetes to better understand and manage their overall health and reduce the risk of further complications.

Diabetes WA has tailored a membership package specifically designed to benefit DVA Gold and White Cardholders, to keep members up-to-date with the latest diabetes information, advice, research, news and events.

Education and self-management of diabetes can help reduce the number of visits and stays in hospital, and minimise a variety of health complications, such as:

  • heart attack
  • stroke
  • hearing and vision loss
  • limb amputation
  • mental health issues.
