These information sessions are free for NDSS registrants and Diabetes WA members. Bookings are essential.

Type 1 Introduction to Carb Counting

Carb counting and diabetes

If you’re living with type 1 diabetes, carbohydrate counting is a valuable tool that can help you to manage your diabetes. If you are new to carb counting, this session will provide practical ideas on getting started.

This session will cover what foods contain carbs, finding out how much carbs are in the foods you eat and ways to work out the right amount of carbs for you.

This information session is suitable for adults with type 1, or type 2 diabetes who currently require rapid acting insulin with each meal.

DWA members and people registered on the NDSS can attend for free and are also eligible to bring a support person for free.

 

Pregnancy and Diabetes

Pregnancy and diabetes

You will hear from a panel of health professionals and women living with diabetes who will share their pregnancy journey.

This session is suitable for women living with type 1 or type 2 diabetes interested in planning and preparing for pregnancy.

DWA members and people registered on the NDSS can attend for free and are also eligible to bring a support person for free.

Travel and Diabetes

Travel and Diabetes

It is essential to carefully plan and prepare before travelling when you are living with diabetes.

This information session will cover what to pack and how to store your supplies, travel insurance, how to adjust to different foods and time zones and any special requirements for flying.

This information session is suitable for adults with type 1 or type 2 diabetes who use insulin.

Type 1 Technology Night

Diabetes and technology

Discuss technology options with a Diabetes Educator and meet with device company representatives to learn about current technologies and their costs, benefits and disadvantages.
