Living with Insulin workshop
Are you new to insulin, about to start insulin or have been on insulin for a while and would like a refresher?
This workshop provides you with key information to help you understand insulin, the different products and equipment available, and the importance of looking after your blood glucose levels. At the end of this session you will leave with practical tips and tools that will support you to feel more comfortable and confident in caring for your diabetes.
During this 3 hour session, you will learn about:
- What insulin does in your body and why you need it
- Products, supplies, and storage
- Injection techniques
- Blood glucose monitoring and hypo/hyperglycaemia
- Diabetes and driving
For people living with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
NOTE: The Living with Insulin Program does not cover how to calculate insulin dose adjustments but covers things for you to consider. We recommend you discuss further queries with your health professional.
What does it involve?
This workshop is held by credentialled Diabetes WA Educators who know the latest in the ever evolving field of insulin.
After having attended this workshop, you will have a better understanding of insulin, products and how to inject insulin. You will also be more comfortable in your everyday routine monitoring your blood glucose levels to avoid hypoglycaemia and hyperglycaemia.
You will receive information material to take home for reference.
