Phone advice service
Calls can be made direct to the service or a scheduled callback from the endocrinologist can be booked online in a 30-minute time window that suits you.
GPs can self-log RACGP Reviewing Performance CPD hours for Diabetes Connect case discussion, including preparation and reflection on advice
Multidisciplinary case conferencing
Case conferences, run via Teams, can be booked with the Diabetes Connect endocrinologist (and the credentialled diabetes educator and Aboriginal health practitioner if requested). Bookings can be made online or by calling the service. MBS items available – please refer to MBS Item 735.
Case conferences may also be scheduled in additional times to those available on our Booking site or can be booked in one- or two-hour blocks for multiple reviews. Multidisciplinary case conferencing can also be used as a group education event with multiple GPs attending. Please call us with any specific requests.
GPs can self-log RACGP/ACRRM CPD hours for their attendance at a case conference.

Aboriginal Health Practitioner support
Our Aboriginal health practitioners are available to attend multidisciplinary case conferences and support you and your practice and the Diabetes Connect team with service consultation and engagement with community.

Our credentialled diabetes educators can assist you and your patients to access local community providers and Diabetes WA’s programs and services and the Diabetes WA helpline

Endocrinologist: Dr Gregory Ong MBBS (WA), PhD (MONASH), FRACP
Dr Greg Ong has clinical appointments at Fiona Stanley Hospital, Fremantle Hospital, and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital where he previously served as clinical lead (Director) of Acute Internal Medicine. Greg can assist you with the management of any aspect of adult diabetes including diabetes in pregnancy.

Endocrinologist: A/Prof Seng Khee Gan, MBBS (WA), BMedSc (WA), PhD (UNSW), FRACP
Dr Seng Khee Gan has a clinical appointment at the Department of Endocrinology & Diabetes at Royal Perth Hospital, where he has been a previous Head of Department, and has a private practice. He is also a Clinical Academic at UWA Medical School and has interests in inpatient and outpatient adult diabetes care, across the age range from young adults to the elderly. He is active in collaborative diabetes research projects, as well as in medical education.

Endocrinologist: Dr Gerard Chew, MBBS (Hons), FRACP
Dr Gerard Chew works at the Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) Department of Endocrinology and Diabetes as a Consultant Endocrinologist. He is also the Head of the Department of Internal Medicine at RPH, where he works as a Consultant Physician. His clinical interests include inpatient diabetes management, diabetic foot disease, and diabetes technology. He has previously been a Senior Lecturer at the University of Western Australia (UWA) School of Medicine, and continues to be involved in the clinical teaching, training, and mentorship of junior doctors, as well supporting junior clinician researchers.
