Feltman® Training for Health Professionals
This teaching tool can be used by health professionals to help explain what happens in the body of someone who has diabetes.
Feltman® is a life size felt mat, in the shape of a human body and shows the systems and organs relating to diabetes. It can be hung up (for example on a white board) or laid down on a flat surface.
The tool can be used with individuals and community groups, as a one-way demonstration or as a two-way interactive workshop. It is perfect for audiences which learn best in a visual way or for whom English is not their first language.
Feltman® can be used to explain:
- What is diabetes?
- What are the risk factors for developing type 2 diabetes?
- What are some of the complications of diabetes?
- How can people with diabetes manage the condition?
- How can people at risk prevent type 2 diabetes?
Diabetes WA is offering training for individuals working with Aboriginal communities across WA on how to best utilise the Feltman® resource.
All training sessions are hosted by Diabetes WA’s diabetes educators.
The Feltman® training runs from 11.30 am – 1.00 pm.
Please check our Upcoming events calendar to see when future courses are running.
