The Diabetes Village
National Diabetes Week 2025
Managing diabetes can be a team effort. For National Diabetes Week 2025 (13-19 July) we are celebrating the #DiabetesVillageWA – the complex support networks that make a difference for West Australians living with diabetes.
Tackling diabetes needs all of us – it needs a Diabetes Village. For some West Australians living with diabetes, this village will be built around family. For some, it will be built around friends. Others will build a network around sporting clubs or community organisations. Whatever it looks like, a solid network can provide holistic care and ease the burden of managing a chronic condition.
If you don’t have diabetes, chances are you know someone who does. This National Diabetes Week, we’re asking all West Australians to think about who is in their #DiabetesVillageWA and how we can best support each other.
This Diabetes Week, ask yourself – who’s in your village?

We all have a role to play in tackling diabetes. As part of #DiabetesVillageWA, Diabetes WA has created free, printable posters for schools, community organisations, medical centres and other workplaces. Each is designed to make it easier to be part of someone’s diabetes village.

Resources for West Australians with diabetes
Diabetes WA is proud to be part of the diabetes village for West Australians. Based right here in WA, we have been supporting West Australians living with diabetes for 60 years. We understand the unique issues that impact people living in this great state, no matter how diabetes affects them. We offer education, support and interactive online programs.
Our free Helpline allows West Australians to speak to someone based in WA to answer any question they might have about diabetes.
Our Telehealth service allows West Australians in regional areas to access the support they might need.
Our Diabetes WA Clinics in Subiaco, Maddington and Port Kennedy allow for one-on-one support with diabetes management, whether someone has been newly diagnosed or living with diabetes for years.
We also have innovative virtual support that allow West Australians to connect with others in their village.
BabySteps is an interactive online program designed to empower women to implement lifestyle changes and reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes.
MyDESMOND is also an online program, empowering people to confidently self-manage type 2 diabetes in a way that suits their lifestyle.
We are proud to be at the heart of your #DiabetesVillageWA – offering holistic diabetes support by West Australians for West Australians.
